1-6 book buddiesMrs. Holmes' 1st grade and Mrs. Duncan's 6th grade classes have been meeting weekly to reach with each other all year. Mrs. Duncan says "What started as a simple reading experience between first and sixth graders has become so much more! Our kiddos have naturally prototyped ways to improve our buddy time. The weekly visits now consist of crafting, sharing good news, and overall bonding. The kids RELY on our visit each week and hold us to it. Their desire to learn about one another is so inspiring!" Mrs. Holmes shared some favorite memories from today's buddy group:

"Buddies was really fun today. My buddy gave me a hug when we left today. My favorite part of buddies today was that I got read with Alex." - Beckett "My favorite part of buddies today was playing the game to get to know my buddy even more. She really likes raviolis!" - Riley "My favorite part of buddies was our game today because we got to eat Skittles and learn about our buddy. He wants to go to Jamaica and likes to eat ice cream and Skittles!" - Gage "I had a really fun time reading my books today with my buddy. I liked when we played the game. We kept picking Skittles and answering the questions. I think the purpose of the game was to learn about our buddy. I learned that he wants to be an astronaut and he learned that I want to be a paleontologist. He said he wants to eat ice cream for the rest of his life and I said pizza!" - Ellie The 6th graders shared these memories as well:

"My favorite part of book buddies is talking to them about life." - Afton "Time flies by when you're having fun together." - Emma "My book buddies always have some crazy story to tell." - Kayley "My favorite part is that they are so exited to read with us." - Kegan "I love helping them read. Also, making conversation." - Josh "I like talking with the 1st graders and reading their funny books." - Gabriel "I love how smart they are.
